The Coalition of Medic*tion-Assisted Treatment Providers and Advocates (COMPA) is hosting a full-day symposium to explore adapting and maximizing patient care in the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD) during recent and potential policy changes. Providers and policymakers will focus on new/final regulations from SAMHSA and the DEA regarding buprenorphine and methadone, responsible implementation of new treatment flexibilities, remaining sustainable amidst funding shifts, and addressing an increased level of stigma surrounding opioid treatment programs (OTPs) and medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD).
Presentations and interactive panel discussions will address key topics such as: implementing federal regulations to maximize effective, patient-centered care, responding to variable reimbursement and funding, answering worsening stigmas, and ensuring patient access to comprehensive, quality care.
Event Summary
Join treatment providers and policymakers to discuss:
• How to preserve patient access to care amid changes to federal policies.
• How to implement new treatment flexibility from regulatory agencies.
• How to keep OTPs sustainable when funding is uncertain.
• How to respond to escalating stigma and NIMBYism surrounding methadone programs.
The purpose of the symposium is to educate attendees on how to adapt to new regulations and policies to continue meeting the needs of a vulnerable patient population. The symposium will promote timely collaboration among stakeholders by fostering communication and encouraging meaningful dialogue.
There is an option for attendees to register to attend virtually, however participation in Q&A is limited to in-person attendees. Questions from virtual attendees may be addressed after the Symposium.
