It is time to grab your crayons and your pencils...
With Summertime in full waves of heat, as we move forward, trying to find ways to stay cool... Can we borrow a moment to talk about Back to School?!
Borrowing from the National Parks & Recreation 2025 theme, 'Build Together, Play Together", we are asking for your help with this year's Back to School Bash!
Our community leaves us astounded at their efforts to support our schools, our teachers and our students. Those who make up our community are assets we consider priceless.
Here in Giles County, we understand that we all may come from different places but that does not mean that any student requires less than any other and this is our opportunity to rally together in one place at the same time to get the students and teachers in our community ready for going back to school.
On Saturday, August 2, here at Pulaski Parks and Recreation Department we are excited to partner with The Pouring Spot to facilitate this year's "Belonging with Backpacks Back to School Bash & FUSION Concert in the Park event at Sharewood.
This event takes an enormous amount of community collaboration of every kind!
We have asked businesses, churches, community service agencies, civic organizations and individuals to come together with us to make sure that locally, from one end of our community to the other that our local students and teachers are ready to kick this 2025-26 off right!!
The Pouring Spot has already started collecting backpacks and supplies! Saturday, August 2nd will be filled with many opportunities & resources beginning at 10am!
- [ ] From 10am until 3pm, Solid Rock will be inside The Rec Center with their Clothing Ministry. All items are free and they will also be accepting donations of clothing, coats and shoes.
- [ ] Beginning at 10am, The Lion’s Club will be on sight with free eye exams
- [ ] Vendors of all varieties will begin setting up around 10am and will be set up throughout the evening and the entirety of the concert in the park.
- [ ] The Splash Park will be open from 10am-6pm
-Children 5 yrs & under get in for FREE
-Everyone 6yrs & older $5.00 per person
-One adult 18yrs & older is required per every child 10yrs & under entering the Splash Park.
- [ ] Backpack & School Supply giveaway begins at 3:00pm and lasts until all supplies are gone. (Students must be present to choose his/her own backpack/supplies)
- [ ] LIVE music will take place for the afternoon & evening
- [ ] Lots of door prizes (must be present to win)
We always enjoy when Sharewood Park is filled with music and laughter; we anticipate no less than many memory making opportunities with lots of supplies for students and teachers with opportunities to raise funds for The Pouring Spot and support local Vendors.
For anyone wondering how can you help, daily, school supplies, classroom needs and college mandatories will be going on sale soon; watch our local school pages on social media for these lists as well as in store display areas.
Start a collection bin at your place of business, at your churches or on your own and drop off your collection after Thursday, July 31st at The Rec or call to reserve a space to set up and give your collection of items away during our event. This is an avenue to make provide resource information and make community connections also. If your business has marketing items, you'd like to hand out that can be used in the classroom, feel free to reach out as well.
