Raku Pottery Workshop - Summer 2025

Class size limit: 10 students
In this 3 part class, students will use a variety of ceramic forming techniques to create one-of-a-kind raku pieces. Students should expect to complete an equivalent of 3 small pieces.
A brief history of raku pottery will be covered. We will also discuss clay bodies, glazes, firing processes and decorative ideas as they relate to raku pottery.
Your instructor will guide you as you start with a basic pinch pot and then follow your own creative path to make a vessel or sculptural animal. Students will also be shown how to make a slab built vessel and a mask.
The final class will be held outdoors in a location a few miles from the center. We will meet at 9 am to glaze and participate in the exciting reduction firing process. Students should plan on bringing lunch and being available the whole day of glaze firing.
