Welcome gorgeous greys and their families.
Let’s meet at 10am every 3rd Saturday of the month for a social walk along the Darebin Creek path with our long doggos.
A little info about the day:
- We meet on the grassy area near the Wood Street end of the Northlands car park (photo in comments) at 10am for a 10:15am walking start.
- There’s a little map (photo in comments) of our walk, for those doggos and humans who would like to make a short cut and meet at the end.
-The walk usually takes 20-40 minutes of actually walking time (depending on sniffs).
- When we make our ‘catch up’ pit stop half way through, a reminder to stay on the grass and off the path as that’s a tricky spot for bikes.
- At the end people often set up blankets for a little picnic hang and creek sniffs or head on off from there.
Everyone has always been so lovely and respectful and here’s a few gentle reminders to keep that vibe going…
- Taking poos with you when you leave (unfortunately there are not many bins around where we walk).
- Keeping to the left hand side of the path/ grass to keep us and the bike riders safe.
- And as we know, some greys may prefer their space so perhaps people would like to attach a yellow ribbon to their doggo’s collar, lead or outfit should you wish to let others know. It seems greyhound people tend to understand this and check in with each other but it would be wonderful to have this group as inclusive to those long doggos as possible.
-Muzzles for our extra reactive fur friends, we’ll trust people will know if this is best for your grey.
Please feel free to add reminders that you think are important. Let’s create this amazing community together and have fun with our gorgeous greys!
