The Wilderness Society and allies are coming together in Macnamara to connect with nature and send a clear message to the Government that our community cares deeply about the environment and we will hold leaders accountable to protect Australia's unique nature and wildlife.
By every measure, the environment that sustains us is in decline. Weak environment laws and government inaction have made Australia a world leader in extinction and deforestation. Species are declining, promises are broken, and laws are failing.
However, people power creates political pressure.
Will you join the community show of power to hold our decision makers accountability to look after nature?
On the day..
A journey from the wetlands to the ocean, joined by volunteer groups who care for the local nature.
We will first visit the Yalukit Willam Reserve with local reserve volunteers, where we’ll learn about the restoration efforts that have made this area such a special place. After learn about the restored wetlands, we’ll walk together along the Elwood Canal, finishing at the coast to reflect, connect, and stand united for nature.
If we demonstrate how much our community loves the environment, our elected parliamentarians will know this issue matters to their constituents and community. They will understand that passing mediocre laws, or failing to pass the laws nature needs, is too risky for them. They will then raise our shared concerns and hold the government to account.
This event is a collaboration between The Wilderness Society and allies. Together we strive for stronger protections for our living world that makes all life possible.
