The Cat Empire vydávají 10. studiové album s názvem Bird in Paradise, vyjde v pátek 21. března u BMG Australia. Tato deska se zrodila z čisté energie a spontánnosti a má blíže k experimentu než k promyšlenému projektu. Zpěvák Felix Riebl si album inspirované flamencem představoval dlouho, semínka kapela zasadila při nahrávání předposlední desky Where The Angels Fall, a ta teď vykvetla v elektrizující ucelený soubor.
Where The Angels Fall byla na poměry kapely deska o poznání popovější, s nablýskanou produkcí a plným, sytým zvukem, Bird In Paradise znamená triumfální návrat k organičtějšímu živému zvuku. Kapela udělala na počátku odvážné rozhodnutí vyhnout se standardům moderní hudební produkce, a místo toho se rozhodli zachytit kouzlo společného hraní v jednom prostoru. Flamencová inspirace alba svedla dohromady širší tvůrčí tým než kdykoli předtím. Od počátku psaní stál po boku hlavních členů kapely (Felix Riebl, Ollie McGill a Ross Irwin) dlouholetý spolupracovník Richard Tedesco, a společně obohatili zvuk smyčci, dechy a propracovanými aranžemi. Kubánský trumpetista Lazaro Numa přidal nový rozměr dechové sekci, spoluautorkou čtyř skladeb na albu je zpívající basistka Grace Barbé. Celý ansámbl se opřel o individuální přednosti, aby vytvořil nahrávku oslavující společný talent této hudební rodiny. Píseň „La Gracia“ je pulzující tapisérie globálních vlivů, inspirovaná první cestou trumpetisty Lazara s kapelou do Španělska, „Blood on the Stage“ zase odráží energii evropského turné. 'Doing Fine' je pak sebepotvrzující výbuch živosti, překypující ostrou dynamikou.

Born out of raw energy and spontaneity, this record began as an experiment rather than a deliberate project. Lead singer Felix Riebl had long envisioned a flamenco-inspired album, and the seeds for this idea—planted during sessions for their last album, Where The Angels Fall — finally flourished into an electrifying and cohesive body of work.
