𝐃𝐨𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐚𝐝-𝐛𝐨𝐲 𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐮𝐛 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐤 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭-𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐤? Tak svou tvorbu označuje kapela Quade, kterou tvoří čtyři kamarádi Barney Matthews (basa, vokály), Matt Higgins (hardware), Tom Connolly (housle, kytara) a Leo Fini (bicí).
Bristolský kvartet, který se zrodil během covidové pandemie, navazuje na tradici atmosférického post-rocku devadesátých let kapel jako Hood, Bark Psychosis, Tortoise, Labradford nebo The For Carnation — a jejich vlivy mísí s osobitým přístupem k gotickému folku, kosmickému ambientu i minimalistické dubové psychedelii.
Quade svou debutovou deskou Nacre z roku 2023 navázali spolupráci s vizionářským londýnským labelem AD 93 a letos na ni navazují albem The Foel Tower, které v listopadu v pražské premiéře přivezou do MeetFactory.

Druhá deska Quade, která spatřila světlo světa letos v dubnu, vznikla v útočišti zapomenuté kamenné stodoly v odlehlém velšském údolí nedaleko pramene řeky Wye. Obrazy potemnělých mlhavých krajin, praskajících ohňů a rozlehlých pustých kopců kapela přetavila do atmosférické zvukové mozaiky plné hudebních, filmových a literárních odkazů – od Ursuly Le Guin a Cormaca McCarthyho až po R. S. Thomase i W. B. Yeatse.

This Bristol-based quartet emerged during the pandemic, drawing on the legacy of ‘90s atmospheric post-rock bands like Hood, Bark Psychosis, Tortoise, Labradford, and The For Carnation — building on their influence with a singular take on gothic folk, cosmic ambient, and minimalist dub psychedelia. With their 2023 debut Nacre, Quade joined the roster of visionary London label AD 93, following up this year with their sophomore record The Foel Tower.

Quade's second album, released in April, was recorded in the sanctuary of an old stone barn in the cradle of a Welsh mountain valley. The band has transformed images of misty landscapes, crackling fires and vast barren hills into an atmospheric sonic tapestry stuffed with musical, cinematic and literary influences – from Ursula La Guin and Cormac MacCarthy through to RS Thomas and W. B. Yeats. Despite the heavy, introspective and anxious nature of some of the material, it is also a record that is remarkably deft, agile and considered.
