📢 WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED
“A member of our community is being targeted by the police for demonstrating their support for Palestinian emancipation. They were arrested and charged with the crime of supporting and promoting an act of terrorism. But what is terrorism? And who gets to define what constitutes an act of terror? Well, the State has a monopoly on violence, both the definition and the enactment of it. With this comes the privilege of also being able to define what action does or does not meet the stringent criteria necessary to classify it as terrorism.
Over the last 21 months, Israel has killed at least twenty children on average every single day. That is over 14,000 dead children. Israel forces displaced and starving Palestinians towards supposed aid distribution sites, and then massacres them on sight. These are clear and unambiguous acts of terrorism. So, Czechia, although to a lesser extent than the US and the UK, has also provided arms and continues to provide diplomatic support to Israel. Are they not also supporting an ongoing act of terrorism? (...)
So, make no mistake, the authorities have shown us that they are engaged in an exercise of intimidation against us. They are testing the waters for how forcefully they can suppress our right to protest settler colonialism. The very least that any of us can do when presented with genocide is to speak out against it, and demand that governments sever economic and diplomatic ties with those carrying out the genocide; demand that elected officials stop prioritising the colonial ambitions of a foreign state over the welfare of their own people.
But despite this state repression, we cannot afford to be intimidated. We will not be silenced into submission. It is our moral responsibility to call out evil where and when we see it. We must remain steadfast in our commitment to calling for a ceasefire, towards reparations for the millions of displaced Palestinians, and for the families of the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians murdered by Israel, and towards Palestinian liberation and emancipation, free Palestine.”
