Britský kytarový mág James Blackshaw se po patnácti letech vrací do Prahy
James Blackshaw při hře na dvanáctistrunnou akustickou kytaru čerpá z minimalismu, americké kytarové školy šedesátých let okolo labelu Takoma Records Johna Faheyho i z evropské klasické hudby, zatímco navazuje na tradici předních britských hráčů jako Bert Jansch či Davy Graham.
Prostřednictvím techniky finger-pickingu, repetitivních motivů a táhlých dronů vytváří hypnotizující instrumentální hudbu, kterou doposud zhmotnil na jedenácti sólových studiových albech a řadě EPček, živých nahrávek a kompilací. Blackshaw má na kontě spolupráci s Lubomyrem Melnykem, Jozefem Van Wissemem (v projektu Brethren of the Free Spirit) a hraní s Current 93. Koncertoval taky s Grails nebo Swans, jimž předskakoval před patnácti lety v pražském Paláci Akropolis. Dvě alba mu vydal Michael Gira na labelu Young God.
Po téměř desetileté pauze vydal v listopadu 2024 své nejnovější album Unravelling In Your Hands, které letos přiveze do smíchovské továrny.

British guitar wizard James Blackshaw returns to Prague after fifteen years
James Blackshaw, known for his innovative approach to the 12-string guitar, draws from minimalism, 60’s Takoma school of American Primitive guitar, as well as European classical music, while continuing the tradition of leading British players like Bert Jansch and Davy Graham. Using finger-picking technique, repetitive motifs, and sustained drones, Blackshaw creates hypnotic, emotional and touching instrumental music.
Born in London in 1981, Blackshaw has released eleven solo studio albums, two EPs, two live recordings and has also appeared on numerous compilations. Blackshaw has collaborated with Lubomyr Melnyk, performed and recorded as a member of Current 93 and with Jozef Van Wissem as Brethren of The Free Spirit and toured and played shows with artists such as Grails and Swans, for whom he opened at Prague's Palác Akropolis back in 2010. Two of his albums were released by Michael Gira on the Young God label.
His latest, Unravelling In Your Hands, was released in November 2024, following a near decade long hiatus from making music.

The evening will open with Brno-based guitarist Tomáš Niesner, also known from the bands Unna and Vlněna or from his duo with Jakub Šimanský.
