Haka Tika Tonu z Maną
Haka „Tika Tonu” została napisana przez wodza Waimaramę Puharę z plemienia Ngati Kahungunu.
„Tika Tonu” oddaje hołd młodym pokoleniom, które stają w obliczu życiowych wyzwań i muszą podejmować decyzje wchodząc w dorosłość. „Tika Tonu” ma na celu dodanie młodzieży (Māori) odwagi, wytrwałości i hartu ducha. Składa również hołd starszym pokoleniom za ich mądrość, nauki i przewodnictwo wobec nowych generacji. Wódz Waimarama wspierał jedną z najważniejszych wartości kultury polinezyjskiej – utrzymywanie więzi między Starym a Młodym pokoleniem.
Poprzez wykonywanie Haka:
- Poznamy poczucie jedności Māori, gdzie kobiety i mężczyźni wykonują Haka razem, ukazując czystą formę siły.
- Zrozumiemy, co symbolizuje Haka, co ze sobą niesie, jak działa na nasz umysł i ciało. Porozmawiamy o kilku kluczowych polinezyjskich słowach, które rządzą codziennym życiem tysięcy rdzennych mieszkańców, poznając sposób życia Polinezyjczyków.
- Dowiemy się, czym jest polinezyjskie poczucie wspólnoty, miłości i opiekuńczości.
- Poznamy nieustraszonego ducha Māori, by obudzić własnego słowiańskiego wojownika.
- Zapoznamy się z duchowością Māori, poczujemy moc każdego ruchu i zrozumiemy, jak konkretne gesty oddają cześć starożytnym bóstwom.
- Nasze głosy uniosą słowa bezpośrednio do przodków, dając nam siłę pięciu kobiet i mężczyzn.
- Oddamy hołd ziemi, niebu, naturze i ludzkości.
- Odkryjemy znaczenie „groźnego wyrazu twarzy”, zwanego Pūkana.
- Będziemy chcieli uwolnić emocje, obudzić wewnętrzne zwierzę – w miejscu, gdzie nikt nas nie oceni.
Warsztaty są otwarte dla wszystkich, niezależnie od płci i doświadczenia.
Opowieść o haka:
Mój dziadek uwielbiał opowiadać historie o wojownikach z Pacyfiku i o tym, jak dzielnie bronili swoich domów. Jedna historia na zawsze pozostanie w mojej pamięci – ta, w której jego przodkowie, moi przodkowie, wykonali Haka, by bronić swoich ziem wzdłuż rzeki Waikato.
„W nocy Mahina (Księżyc) błogosławiła równiny naszej ziemi swoim blaskiem. Przez ciemne lasy rozbrzmiewały głosy – kobiety i mężczyźni wykonywali rytualną Haka, wzywając przodków, by dali im siłę i odwagę niezbędną do ochrony naszego Iwi (plemienia), naszej whenua (ziemi) dla naszych Tamariki (dzieci).
Ręce uderzały w uda i klatkę piersiową, stopy tupały o ziemię, twarze zmieniały się podczas wykonywania Pūkana, ich mana (moc, duch, energia) rozchodziła się po naturze. Byli gotowi, prowadzeni przez przodków...
Oczywiście nie mieli szans wygrać tej bitwy – i nie wrócili...
Pamiętaj Mana, czcimy odwagę naszych wojowników – nie wrócili, ale walczyli dzielnie dla nas.”
O Manie:
Mana pochodzi z Polinezji, zrodzony na świętej wyspie Ra’iatea, legendarnej Havai’i Nui. Jego rodzina wywodzi się z ostatniego klanu/plemienia, które stawiło opór kolonizatorom na wyspach Raromata’i (Polinezja Francuska) i Aotearoa (Nowa Zelandia). Zgodnie z tradycją wychowywał się u boku dziadków, ucząc się historii, kultury i zwyczajów przodków, strzegąc opowieści i legend Polinezji przekazywanych przez starszyznę.
Celem Many jest dzielenie się autentyczną kulturą Polinezji.
To delikatne przypomnienie, że Haka jest święta dla ludu Māori. „Uczenie” jej jako osoba spoza kultury Māori, bez korzeni lub wiedzy, jest brakiem szacunku.

Haka Tika Tonu with Mana
Haka “Tika Tonu” written by Chief Waimarama Puhara from Ngati Kahungunu tribe.
“Tika tonu” honours the young generations facing challenges of life, having to make decisions as they become adults, “Tika tonu” wants to give the (Māori) youth courage, tenacity and perseverance. It also gives tribute to the older generations for
their wisdom, their teachings and their guidance of the new generations. Chief Waimarama supported one of the most important values of the Polynesian culture, keeping the Old and the Young generations connected.
By performing Haka,
- We will learn about the Māori sense of unity, where women and men perform Haka together, giving the pure form of power.
- We will get to know what Haka represents, what it brings, how it works on our own mind and body. We will talk about some Polynesian key words, ruling the daily life of
thousands of natives, knowing the Polynesian way of life.
- We will learn about the Polynesian sense of unity, love and guardianship.
- We will know about the fierce Māori spirit to awake your fierce Slavic spirit.
- We will get familiar with the Māori spirituality, feel the power of every move and know how a specific move is honouring ancient deities.
- Our voices will elevate the words directly to ancestors, giving us the strength of five women and men.
- We will honour the land, the sky, nature and humankind.
- We will discover the meanings of “the intimidating face expression”, called Pūkana.
- We will want to release emotions, to awake our inner beast, in a place where noone will judge you.
The workshops are open to everyone, regardless of gender and experience.
A story about haka:
My grandfather loved to tell the stories of the warriors of the Pacific and howfierce they were protecting their homes. One story
that will stay in my mind for ever is the one in which his ancestors, my ancestors, performed a Haka to defend their lands along the Waikato River.

"At night, Mahina (the Moon) blessed the plains of our lands with her glow, through the dark forests, voices raised, women and men performing the ritual Haka, calling upon our ancestors to give us the strength and courage needed to preserve our "Iwi" (tribe), our "whenua" (land) for our "Tamariki" (children).
Hands clapping on their thighs and chest, Feet stomping the land, their faces changed as they performed "Pūkana" their "mana" (power, spirit, energy) was spreading throughout nature. They were ready, our ancestors guiding them...
There was obviously no chance they would win that battle and, they did not come back...
Remember Mana, we celebrate the courage of our fighters, they did not return but they fought bravely for us"
About Mana:
Mana, comes from Polynesia, born on the sacred island of Ra’iatea, the legendary Havai’i Nui, and his family traces their lineage to the last clan/tribe standing against colonizers in the Raromata’i islands (French Polynesia) and Aotearoa (New
Zealand). As the traditions oblige, he learnt about his ancestors, cultures, and traditions growing up with his grandparents, guarding dearly the stories and legends of Polynesia, told by his elders in his childhood. Mana’s goal is to share the authentic Polynesian cultures.
This is a gentle reminder that Haka is sacred to Māori people. “Teaching” it when being non-Māori, with no Māori origins or not having the knowledge is disrespectful.
Please, always seek for Polynesian, Māori, guidance.
