https://watertrail.knoxcountytn.gov/ When completed, the Knox County Water Trail will be a 44 mile kayak float on Beaver Creek through Knox County from Halls to Melton Hill Park.
The task of cleaning up Beaver Creek is a massive project! 100% respect and appreciation is due to the Legacy Parks Foundation, Knox County Parks & Rec, AND ALL of the volunteers in the Beaver Creek Kayak Club for their back breaking work building an experience for anyone of any ability to enjoy.
The section of Beaver Creek from the Karns Senior Center to the HVEC has NOT been officially cleaned and cleared yet. Since we are downstream from the clearing efforts, we are trying to CATCH AND REMOVE debris before it ends up in Melton Hill Lake.
THERE ARE 3 WAYS YOU CAN HELP:
1 - WORK - bring your kids and join us on Sunday, 08/10/25 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm for an OFFICIAL "Adopt A Stream" WORK DAY sponsored by Knox County Engineering & Public Works. Float with us from the Karns Senior Center to the HVEC and remove anything that is not part of the natural habitat. (The beavers, otters, muskrats, raccoons, herons, fish, and many more animals say THANK YOU in advance.) We also need volunteers to shuttle workers and help on shore at the HVEC. 2 - PARTY IN THE PAVILION - Even if you are unable to attend the work session, join us on Sunday, 08/10/25 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm for the FOOD TRUCK RALLY IN THE VALLEY sponsored by Orange Hat Brewing. Help us celebrate a good day and the workers with multiple food trucks, refreshments, live music, and kids activities.
