The Nerd Poetry Slam (and Open Mic!)

Wish there were more Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, or Hawkeye poetry out in the world? Do you have a poem about an obscure D&D podcast you don’t know what to do with? Love all things poetry and all things nerd, and want to see what it looks like when they fuse together?

Well then, Scotty, beam us up!!

The Nerd Slam is a space for you to hear poetry we all can geek out about! Any poetry about a facet of pop culture (E.g., television, film, literature, podcasts, gaming, anime, etc.) or poems with a science-minded bend are welcome! This slam will also have a competitive element to it - folks who come up to the mic for the slam portion will be asked trivia in the Nerd Area of Expertise they have. All folks, whether they get their trivia question(s) right or wrong, will still get to read, but folks who answer their trivia correctly might get a little prize!

This event is on Sunday, May the 4th (be with you) at Board Bard Games.

The door opens at 6:30 pm, and the show starts at 7:00 pm.

This show will have both a poetry open mic and poetry slam - all poems read in either MUST BE NERDY! We will also have a spotlight feature from RJ Equality!

Board Bard Games does have concessions and is ADA friendly. Come out a little early to check out what they've got and procure a beverage - show this amazing venue some love!! The Nerd Slam is a fundraiser for the Bigfoot Poetry Festival. All ages are welcome. Tickets are $10 for presale, $15 at the door.

If our sign-ups don't completely fill up before the event, we will have a sign-up list at the door. However, we recommend signing up sooner rather than later. You do NOT have to sign up to attend this event. Folks who would just like to come out, watch, and geek out are encouraged to do so!
