On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, our friends at Steeplejack Brewing will have a release party for River Hugger Lager, an easy-drinking lager best enjoyed outside, perhaps at the river’s edge. A percent of proceeds from River Hugger Lager benefit HAP—buy beer for good!
The art on the can features the Cathedral Park swimming area that HAP opened last summer. HAP worked with community partners to remove over 150 tons of concrete over three years and fundraised to replace the swimming dock. This iconic swimming spot under the St. John’s Bridge has quickly become one of Portland’s favorite places to visit the Willamette River.
River Hugger Lager is a crisp, easy-drinking light lager brewed with Pilsner malt, rice, and Adeena hops. Bright notes of lemon and stone fruit make it refreshing and smooth. Find it at Steeplejack pubs, local bars, restaurants, and nearby stores.
Celebrate the launch of our River Hugger Lager on Tuesday 7/15 from 4:30-6:30pm at Steeplejack Union on SE Hawthorne! Go by bike! After enjoying a beer, there will be a group bike ride to the Tuesday Splashdown at Audrey McCall Beach. We will continue the party with DJs, food carts, and a dip in the river!
