A young beggar in Lusatia, Krabat, is summoned to mysterious mill to work as an apprentice. It is no ordinary mill, but one run by a powerful sorcerer who enslaves young men while teaching them black magic. Every Christmas, the master challenges one of his boys to a sorcery duel to the death. As Krabat becomes more skilled in the dark arts, will he be able to break the deadly cycle and escape? THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE is a gloomy, beautiful work by Czech animation master Karel Zeman, based on a Sorbian folk tale.
