Training Description:
This two day training workshop is aimed at teaching the steps involved in The Healing Emotional Affective Responses to Trauma (HEART) Model.
The HEART model is an innovative, holistic (mind,body, and spirit) therapeutic approach for use with clients who have experienced traumas, hurts, and who have difficult or painful memories of the past.
The HEART model incorporates a spiritual overlay into the current, standard three-phase model employed in trauma work. It offers a fresh approach utilizing creative visualization and can incorporate guided prayer, to allow the individual to clearly see, recreate, and reprocess the experience of the traumatic memory; resolve and restructure cognitive distortions, and reframe their affective responses.
Although initially developed from a Judeo-Christian perspective, the steps that deal explicitly with God can be reworked to incorporate beliefs of any religious or spiritual persuasion. Alternatively the Spiritual Overlay can be set aside completely, for a secular approach.
Topics covered include (but are not limited too):
Phase 1 – Rapport building, safety issues, confidentiality, crisis stabilization, orientation to the therapeutic process.
Phase 2 – uncovering memory, processing and regulating affect, cognitive distortions and restructuring.
Phase 3 – Final integrations, relational sexual issues, spiritual issues, closure
