Porirua flood mapping: Final maps community drop-in session

Flooding impacts more people, more often than any other natural hazard in the Wellington region. Understanding flood risk is more important than ever. By working with communities to understand flood risks, we can help minimise the impacts on people, businesses and critical infrastructure.

On behalf of Porirua City Council, Wellington Water has created two flood maps to show the impacts of flooding in Aotea/Paremata and Whitby/Duck Creek. In June, we held four community drop-in sessions to share the near-final versions of the maps with community members to see whether they matched your lived experience of flood risk in these neighbourhoods.

These maps have now been finalised, and we want to share them with you. You can view the maps online, or join us at Pātaka Art + Museum to chat with our experts and see the maps in person.
