Black Mountain Ranch

"The ranch is a stellar setting for our long table, surrounded by undulating hills and breathtaking views. A thriving community of farmers and ranchers is lucky to call these hills home — including the venerable Stemple Creek Ranch, where pasture-raised beef cattle are tended with utmost love and care.

There are also row crops, lavender fields, indigo, quail, a sheep-to-sweater farm, and an organization called Fibershed, dedicated to land conservation and climate-friendly clothing. It’s a place as inspirational as it is jaw-droppingly beautiful.

If the weather cooperates, we'll climb the hill to a spot with a to-die-for view. The historic barn in the valley below is also a great setting for the table. We always have a good Plan B.

Chef Seth helms Osito in San Francisco, where live-fire cooking is the focus. Osito (little bear in Spanish) is also Seth’s nickname. He’ll be easy to spot."
