POCATELLO NAACP CELEBRATES JUNETEENTH
WITH ETHNIC FOODS, MUSIC, CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES, AND MORE!
WHAT: Celebrate Juneteenth (June 19, 1865), the date slavery effectively ended in the United States. Juneteenth was recognized as a federal holiday on June 17, 2021, when President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law.
WHEN: Saturday, June 21, 2025, 11 A.M. to 3 P.M.
WHERE: The Pocatello Senior Activity Center, 427 N. Sixth Avenue.
WHO: The Pocatello Branch of the NAACP invites the public to join us for the 5th annual resumption of the local Juneteenth celebration and major fundraiser that is becoming a fixture on the Southeast Idaho summer calendar.
HOW: Activities include a barbecue picnic with ethnic and traditional foods, desserts, kid-friendly games, activities and prizes, an auction, raffles, a red velvet cake baking contest and announcing the NAACP Scholarship winners. Special musical guest will once again be the fantastic Glynn Osborne!
MEAL TICKETS (SUGGESTED DONATIONS): Adults: $25 donation, children ages 6-12: $15 donation, children under 5 eat free. Currently, tickets are available at our booth at the Farmers Market on May 17th and 31st, and June 14th. Check back here soon for other places around town to donate for tickets. PLEASE NOTE: YOU ONLY NEED A TICKET IF YOU PLAN ON EATING. IF YOU DON'T PLAN ON EATING, THEN YOU DON'T NEED A TICKET. EVERYONE (EATING OR NOT) IS WELCOME TO ATTEND, PARTICIPATE IN THE RAFFLE, BRING A CAKE FOR THE CONTEST, VISIT A BOOTH, ENJOY SOME MUSIC, SOCIALIZE, AND HAVE A GREAT TIME.
