Join us for a FREE, Embroidery Workshop at the Pittsburgh Center For Creative Reuse!
Learn how to create beautiful embroidery pieces incorporating unusual and found materials! Practically anything you can find at the Center for Creative Reuse can be incorporated into embroidery with easy-to- learn techniques. Using our trusty thread, needle and fabric, we will learn how to embroider with a wide variety of additional materials, including but not limited to: plastic, cording, beads with and without holes, photographs, shells, hardware. Our approach will be unplanned and improvised, appropriate for the beginner or an experienced embroiderer.
Creative Reuse is a supportive space, open to folks with any level of artistic ability. Our goal is to foster expression and creative community, not perfection. Just bring an open mind– we’ll cover the rest.
This workshop is a part of our Guest Teaching Artist workshop series! On the second sunday of each month we bring in a local artist to host a workshop sharing their specialty. This months' Guest TA is Alison J. Stein (she/her). Alison J. Stein is an multidisciplinary artist, teacher and writer based in Carnegie, PA. She makes vibrant textile art, paintings, prints and book art, all inspired by materials that have had a previous life. Her work has been exhibited locally and nationally, and is in private collections all over the world.
