Get ready for a one-of-a-kind experience this summer with the Arts & Mentoring Project’s Summer Theatre Camp! From July 27th to August 3rd, we’re bringing the magic of theatre to life for young performers in our week-long intensive camp and production of Disney’s Aladdin.
Based on the iconic animated film, with an Academy Award-winning score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, Disney’s Aladdin KIDS is sure to send audiences soaring on a flying carpet ride filled with magic and adventure.
This camp offers something for everyone! Participants will dive into the world of musical theatre as they learn acting techniques, practice choreography, and rehearse songs from the beloved Disney classic, Aladdin KIDS.
Disney’s Aladdin is a beloved, popular story; when the street urchin, Aladdin, vies for the attention of the beautiful princess, Jasmine, he uses a genie’s magic power to become a prince in order to marry her. Iago, Jafar, the Genie, and more are here in Disney’s Aladdin KIDS, a musical adventure filled with magic, mayhem and the power of love.
Camp starts on Sunday, July 27th. Students will be introduced to the story, music and some choreography during their first day, and then audition for various roles in the musical production of Aladdin KIDS. Camp will run from Sunday, July 27th through Saturday, August 2nd at the Pipestone Performing Arts Center in Historic Downtown Pipestone, with each day lasting 4-6 hours in length.
At the end of the week, campers will showcase their hard work in a live theatrical production for family and friends to enjoy. Public performances of Aladdin will take place at the Pipestone Performing Arts Center on Sunday, August 3rd. There will be a matinee performance at 2:00 p.m., and a tentative 5:00 p.m. performance. Each performance is approximately a half hour in length.
Camp is a fantastic way to build new skills, make lifelong memories, and have a blast along the way! Registration for the camp costs each participant $90; this participation fee includes a camp t-shirt, and a script that students get to keep as a commemorative keepsake. If you have more than one student in your family wanting to participate, the first student is $90, and each student after is $75. Registration fees are due by the end of the first day of camp on Sunday, July 27th. Payment methods accepted are cash or check. Students must be registered by Wednesday, July16th to give leaders time to prepare materials.
This camp is directed by Jenn Sheldon, and musically led by Samantha Davis. Amy Blom will assist as the production’s Stage Manager.
