Join us for a deep dive into the wild foods and healing plants that thrive during the warmer months in the South. In this Warm Weather Foraging class, you’ll learn to identify common plants and trees that offer incredible nutritional and medicinal benefits—many of which grow right outside your door.
Wild foods are often more nutrient-dense than their cultivated counterparts. This class will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to begin using these wild edibles for both nourishment and natural healing.
What You’ll Learn:
✅ How to identify warm-weather plants and trees with edible and medicinal value
✅ The health benefits of wild foods and how to use them safely
✅ Practical ways to add wild edibles to meals and home remedies
✅ How to use field guides and regional books to identify plants
✅ Where and how to forage responsibly and respectfully
Hands-On Experience Includes:
🍃 A guided foraging walk (weather permitting) to discover summer’s hidden treasures
🧪 A make-and-take home remedy to begin your herbal journey
📚 A look at the most useful plant identification books for this region
🛍️ Optional purchases: herbal tinctures, dried medicinal herbs, and organically grown potted medicinal plants from the instructor
What to Know Before You Come:
🌧️ Class will be held rain or shine – come prepared for the weather
🚭 Please avoid wearing perfumes or scented products, and no smoking
📓 Bring a notepad and a phone or laptop for the classroom portion
👟 Some walking is involved, so comfortable shoes are a must
🍽️ Picnic tables are available if you’d like to bring lunch
🌳 You’re invited to enjoy the grounds after class for a peaceful stroll
🌿 Edible and medicinal plant samples will be provided during class
