Artist Statement by Laurie N. Hatch
As a painter, my objective is to suggest a scene to the viewer,
supplying the shapes and color values of a scene while
allowing conclusions and details to be drawn by the viewers
imagination and memory.

My hope is that the viewer will place themselves in the painting.
If, through my efforts, I am able to spark memories of a place
and time, or allow the viewer to imagine same, I have
accomplished what I set out to do.
