Festival of Small Halls - Hervey Bay

Pialba Memorial Hall stands on the traditional lands of the Butchulla People.

The Pialba Memorial Hall holds a special place for the people of Hervey Bay - particularly the use of the hall as a dance hall and theatre. Possibly dating to 1906, the Pialba Shire Council purchased land at Main Road and Torquay Road to construct the shire hall. In 1917 the Pialba Shire Council was replaced by the Burrum Shire Council. The building remained in use until 1977 when a new council chambers was opened at Torquay. It was moved to its present locality for use as a dance hall and theatre.

Pialba Memorial Hall is in the heart of Hervey Bay. Hervey Bay has an abundance of riches. It’s the stepping off point to World Heritage-listed K’gari, home to some of the world’s best whale watching encounters in a region recently accredited as a Whale Heritage Site and it has arguably the safest, family friendly beaches on the Queensland coast. Kick off your shoes and relax. If you want to unwind, Hervey Bay has a laid-back lifestyle that welcomes barefoot walks along the beach, bicycle rides beside the ocean and eating takeaway fish and chips with your fingers.

Festival of Small Halls returns to Hervey Bay on Friday, 18 July 2025 with Champagne Weather and Charm of Finches.
