Please join us on the afternoon of Sunday, June 22 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the 200 block of Bridge Street in Downtown Phoenixville for our 5th Annual Phoenixville Juneteenth Celebration!
About Juneteenth:
Juneteenth National Freedom Day illuminates the fact that slaves celebrated the abolishment of slavery with excitement and great joy. It is a reminder to all Americans of the status and importance of Americans of African descent as American citizens. For more than 140 years, Juneteenth National Freedom Day has been the oldest African American holiday observed in the United States.
For the 5th consecutive year, the Phoenixville Juneteenth Committee (Diversity In Action, Black Light Projects, Orion Communities, The Colonial Theatre, the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation) has organized a full afternoon of festive activities to engage the community and shed light on the importance of African American history in the United States and our community. We will commemorate this important date with historical re-enactors, music, art, dance, drummers, street theater, magic, Soul food, and storytelling. The events will take place on the 200 block of Bridge Street in Phoenixville.
If you are able, please also consider donating as we bring this celebration to downtown Phoenixville to raise awareness, educate our community, and honor local and national African American citizens. Donations can be made at the following link:
