About this Event

Arizona Photography Alliance (AZPA) is hosting a Fine Art Photography Auction in conjunction with our annual members meeting at mood room on May 16.

In 2022, AZPA raised funds for the Hartwell Project to recognize one of Arizona's pioneer photographers with a new headstone at Greenwood Cemetery in Phoenix. We had such a great response from our community and the news media on our first memorial project that we're bringing it back to recognize a second time-lost Arizona photographer.

The proceeds from this auction will go toward memorializing early Arizona photographer George H. Rothrock (below left). We've learned that the headstone currently marking his resting place in Mesa Cemetery has deteriorated to the point that it is virtually illegible. Like Hartwell, Rothrock was a significant early Arizona photographer that documented the Arizona Territory from about 1876 into the early 20th century.
