ABOUT THE ARTIST
Zarco Guerrero, muralist, sculptor, mask maker, storyteller, and performance artist, was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona. He has dedicated his artistic endeavors to create positive social change through the arts. Zarco has exhibited his sculptures and masks in Mexico and throughout the United States. He has painted over 45 mural projects nationwide and has had his artwork in many Museums around the Southwest, including a retrospective exhibition of over 200 pieces of art featured at the Northern Arizona Museum in Flagstaff. Known for his storytelling and masks, Zarco's work has been used in a variety of theater companies including Childsplay, Black Theater Troupe, Borderlands Theater, to name a few. His unique style of mask making is a natural expression of his artistic practices and influences which included studying mask making with masters of the craft in Japan, Bali, and Mexico. Parking: Parking garage is located at 401 East Fillmore, Phoenix, AZ 85004 and 2-hour parking validations will be provided to all workshop participants.
