Solstice: Light in Shadowed Times

With so much unrest swirling around us—in our government, our communities, and across the globe—it can be easy to feel overwhelmed, disheartened, or even disconnected. These are deeply unsettling times. But in the face of it all, we remember our power: to gather, to move, to feel, to stay in the joy that keeps our hearts alive and our spirits strong.

This is why we dance.

On Sunday, June 22nd, we’ll come together to honor the Summer Solstice—the longest day of the year, a time when the sun shines at its fullest and reminds us of the light within. Our theme this month is “Light in Shadowed Times,” a celebration of the joy, vitality, and hope that still live in us, even when the world feels heavy.

Through the elements—earth, water, fire, air, and spirit—we will dance to remember: that joy is not frivolous, it is medicine. That movement is not escape, it is resistance. That community is not luxury, it is essential.

Come exactly as you are. Bring water, bring a friend, bring your grief, your laughter, your hope. Wear something you can move freely in and feel beautiful in.

Let’s gather in love. Let’s let the sun remind us that joy is still here—and it’s how we make it through.
