Since 2000, guitarist/composer DM Hotep has been musically trained to rehearse, record, and internationally tour as a member of the Sun Ra Arkestra, directed by Marshall Allen. Internationally, he's played alongside many seminal Arkestra members and others such as guitarist Wayne Krantz, Terry Adams, poet John Sinclair, Bernie Worrell, DJ Spooky, violinist Billy Bang, multi-instrumentalist Kali Fasteau, Tuvan throat-singing ensemble Alash, & legendary Tuvan musician Kongar-ol Ondar (star of the Oscar winning film Genghis Blues). Other experimental music projects include installation projects with German visual artist Gabriele Worgitzki, performances with Bowerbird's Arcana New Music Ensemble and projection artist Eric Ruin’s Ominous Cloud project. In 2015, he spent a 3-week artist-in-residency with MusikFabrik, exploring the intersection of Sun Ra composition, Harry Partch instrumentation, and spectral music aesthetics.
Hotep currently curates the Ghost Horizons residency at Solar Myth in Philadelphia, bringing together acclaimed musicians to collaborate with the Arkestra's 101year old leader, saxophonist/composer Marshall Allen. Their work can be heard on the new release Marshall Allen's Ghost Horizons – LIVE IN PHILADELPHIA (Otherly Love).

THE MAN FROM EARTH is a throwback to the “sci-fi of ideas” which values a thought-provoking premise over special effects and spectacle. A college professor is moving when his friends surprise him with a farewell party. Amid festivities he makes a shocking confession, although appearances place him in his 30s, he has actually been alive since the Paleolithic times, 14,000 years ago. His half-believing friends, all professors, use their disciplines to question the possibility that a man could live for 14 millennia, as a discomfort grows among them.
THE MAN FROM EARTH was a passion project of director Richard Schenkman, The film was written by renowned sci-writer Jerome Bixby, reportedly completed from his death bed. Bixby wrote numerous short stories for the pulp fiction market in the 1950s. He would write numerous film scripts including IT! THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE (an acknowledged influence for ALIEN) and co-wrote the original story for the 1966 film FANTASTIC VOYAGE but is today best-remembered for the four scripts he wrote for the original STAR TREK (including the fan favorite MIRROR, MIRROR with its goateed Spock) and for writing the short story that was the basis for the legendary TWILIGHT ZONE episode, “It's a Good Life” (featuring child actor Bill Mumy as the all-power kid).
THE MAN FROM EARTH features three actors who have worked on the Star Trek Universe, including John Billingsley (Doctor Phlox from STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE), Richard Riehle (from the classic NEXT GENERATION episode, THE INNER LIGHT) and the late Tony “Candyman” Todd.
“It's that rare film that rewards inquisitiveness.“
