Love Your Block Presents...
40 YEARS AGO TODAY: THE LIVE AID TRIBUTE CONCERT
On July 13, 1985, two billion people from around the world watched their TVs while artists like Led Zeppelin, Madonna, Queen, and Run-DMC gathered at JFK Stadium in South Philadelphia and Wembley Stadium for a simultaneous trans-continental event that became the most ambitious concert of all time: Live Aid.
Only July 13, 2025, 40 years to the day, a dizzying array of Philadelphia musicians and singers will gather at Union Transfer to pay tribute to that day, performing songs that were performed at Live Aid, with 100 percent of ticket proceeds going directly to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the charity that recently helped Philly's own Martha Graham Cracker through her battle with both diseases. The ever-growing lineup currently includes The Martha Graham Cracker Cabaret, Johnny Showcase, Shannon Turner, Finn Vora & Friends, PJ Brown, Jess Conda, WALLIS, Reef the Lost Cauze, Brittany Lynn, Eliza Hardy Jones, members of Stinking Lizaveta, Jawn of the Dead and Class of '84, with Chip Chantry and other Philadelphia comedians set to host, plus The 1985 Time Warp by DJ Robert Drake.
This show is made possible by the generous support of presenting sponsor Love Your Block, a Philadelphia real estate company that supports LGBTQ and cancer-related causes, as well as Pat's King of Steaks, Standard Tap, Johnny Brenda's, Sandi Foxx Jones, and the Pistola Restaurant Group.
