Designed for those who have already completed our Growing & Harvesting 101 class (or experienced gardeners looking to go deeper), this hands-on workshop explores the science and nuance behind growing, harvesting, and caring for lavender like a pro.
Join us for an immersive, advanced-level experience where we’ll cover:
Soil Science & Planting Mastery
• Interpreting soil test results
• Understanding amendments and nutrient cycles
• The dos and don’ts of transplanting and propagation (seeds vs. clippings)
Advanced Harvesting Techniques
• How bloom phase affects use: dried bouquets, culinary buds, oil distillation & more
• Tips on drying, distilling timing, and harvesting for peak yield and quality
Pruning & Plant Health
• Techniques for selective vs. full-plant pruning
• How to recover rogue plants
• Understanding seasonal pruning strategies and tool sanitization
Lavender’s Scent Science
• The role of terpenes like camphor, linalool, and linalyl acetate
• Why lavender smells (and tastes) the way it does
• Which cultivars are best for fragrance, culinary, or therapeutic use
Natural Pest Management
• How to identify and handle common lavender pests
• Attracting beneficial insects using Certified Naturally Grown methods
This class is mobile! We’ll travel across the farm by golf cart to explore key areas, but we’ll skip the basic farm tour to focus on deeper learning and in-field application.
Each Participant Receives:
• A lavender plant
• A U-cut lavender bunch
• A break for Lavender Shortbread Cookies & Lavender Lemonade midway through the class
