Unlock Your Voice at the Ground Up Music Launches Songwriters' Camp 🎹🎼🎤
Ground Up Music, the innovative music platform empowering musicians throughout Cambridgeshire, is thrilled to announce its first in a series of specialised "Camps" designed to ignite creativity and build essential skills at the Ground Up Music Writers' Camp on Saturday 26th July.
This summer, aspiring songwriters, bands and lyricists are invited to take part in a 4 hour immersive workshop at Chime Creation Centre. Led by seasoned music professionals, this camp is a unique opportunity to explore every facet of song and lyric writing, from initial inspiration to polished compositions.
At the Camp you will gain invaluable insights into:
- Lyric crafting and storytelling techniques
- Melody and harmony fundamentals
- Overcoming creative blocks
- Structuring effective songs
- Collaborative songwriting with other musicians
Facilitators 🎧
The writers camp will be facilitated by Xidus Pain, a multi-award-winning international music artist, Hip Hop educator, mentor, and music practitioner whose work bridges the worlds of performance, education, and cultural diplomacy. Mentored by legends such as the Sugarhill Gang, Grandmaster Melle Mel, and the late Dr. Benjamin Zephaniah, Xidus has performed on iconic stages across Europe from the Royal Albert Hall to the Vans Warped Tour.Xidus had the honour of performing live shows and delivering Rap and Hip-Hop workshops across New York as part of Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
A respected contributor to BBC Radio, Xidus has delivered improvised freestyle performances for global events including the Olympic Games, World Cup and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. His collaborations span the globe and genres, working with Grammy Award winning artist the likes of Chuck D, Aloe Blacc, Morris Pleasure (Earth,Wind & Fire, Michael Jackson, Ray Charles), Michael Mcdonald, Sheena Easton, Peabo Bryson, Abiodun Oyewole: (The Last Poets), The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, El Anatsui, and Sylvia Massy,
to name just a few.
Seasoned music producer, engineer, DJ and educator Lee Asthon will also be facilitating; with a Masters in Community Music. Lee has over 25 years experience in crafting electronic songs, having many releases over the years for reputable EDM labels. Lee can help you take your tracks to the next level and will be on hand to assist with recording and production ideas.
