Welcome to the 5th Annual Ottawa Valley Soup-Off!!
Social events revolving around food are always a crowd favourite and ever since the very successful inaugural Soup-Off back in 2019 this event has grown into a great holiday tradition. Experts predict that if this event continues to grow at the current pace it will be bigger than Christmas by 2028.
This year I am delighted to announce that the OSPCA is on board and all proceeds from the event will be going to their foundation. Our first family dog Bauer came from the OSPCA and I think anyone who has a 4 legged family member can appreciate how important the OSPCA is to our community!

SOUP-OFF FORMAT/ RULES & REGULATIONS:
Participants who submit a soup must submit a homemade soup (not canned or store bought), provide something to serve it with (ladle), and bring the soup in an adequate sized dish capable of keeping it warm (crock pot, insta pot etc). There will be electrical hook ups for power. Last year we had some contestants run out of soup before the event was over and ended up missing out on some potential votes so I would recommend bringing a back up pot to replenish just in case! All other cutlery (spoons, bowls, napkins) will be provided.
The entry fee is $20 per person, and you may enter a soup either individually or with a partner, however an individual my only enter 1 soup.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ENTER A SOUP TO PARTICIPATE.
If you would prefer to be a taste tester you have the option to pay the $20 entry fee and join the fun. You would then be able to try all the soups submitted and vote on your top 3 favourites. You are also entered to win the door prizes.
Whether you bring a soup or not all participants are required to vote for your top 3 favourite soups.
YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO VOTE FOR YOUR OWN SOUP!
The voting is weighted as follows:
1st place vote- 5 points
2nd place vote- 3 points
3rd place vote- 1 point
BACK AGAIN THIS YEAR!! There will be a panel of celebrity judges who will also be voting for their top 3 favourite soups. The celebrity judge votes will be weighted heavier to help eliminate bias and create an equal playing field for all contestants.
Celebrity judge voting is weighted as follows
1st place vote- 30 points
2nd place vote- 20 points
3rd place vote- 10 points
The judges will be announced closer to the event so stay tuned!
Once all votes have been tallied the winners will be announced.
Last but not least the fine folks at the Petawawa Civic Centre will have the bar open for the event serving your favourite alcoholic
beverages.
