Perkasie Park Historic District to Hold 12th Annual Founders’ Day On June 28
Victorian camp meeting is a National Historic District
PERKASIE, PA. (May 11, 2025) The privately owned Historic Perkasie Park Camp Meeting will once again open its Victorian grounds to the public in late June, as the Association celebrates its 12th annual Founders Day event.
Perkasie Park features 60 Victorian-era cottages, a historic outdoor auditorium, and other buildings located on 21 acres of open space within Perkasie Borough. The park first held its organized camp meetings in August 1882, after the land had been used as a public gathering place since 1872.
The free event is from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine, on Saturday, June 28, 2025. Local residents and visitors are welcome, but parking is very limited, so everyone is asked to park on Ninth Street if able to do so.
“We again welcome everyone to our unique National Historic District,” said Frank Pezzanite, president of the Perkasie Park Historical Foundation. “Perkasie Park is one of Bucks County’s hidden treasures and a great example of Victorian summer living. Come and take a step back in time!”
On Founders Day, visitors can take part in a self-guided tour of the Park, visiting selected cottages that have been opened by park residents. The event started unofficially in 2013 when Perkasie Park hosted members of the Perkasie Historical Society for cottage tours.
The Perkasie Park Camp-Meeting is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a Historic District; it also has been designated as a Historic Structure by Perkasie Borough. Its auditorium is on the Bucks County Heritage Conservancy list. The Park has held summertime religious services since 1882, and it has hosted services for nearly every religious group in the local Perkasie/Pennridge region.
The Founders Day event is presented by the Perkasie Park Historical Foundation, a 501(c)(3) corporation that supports projects that help to educate the public about the historical significance of the Park to the growth of the Pennridge community, and its prominent role in the 19th century camp-meeting movement. The Perkasie Park Historical Foundation is also in the process of creating a cottage museum that showcases life during the Victorian age in Perkasie.
