🎬 Lights, Camera, Arizona!
Join Peoria Arts & Culture for the 2nd annual Made in Arizona Film Series, celebrating classic films with ties to the Grand Canyon State! From June through October, enjoy a different film each month—screened on the second Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Willow Room at the Peoria Main Library (8463 W. Monroe St.).
✨ Admission is free! No reservations required, but seating is limited and first come, first served.
Each film kicks off with a brief introduction and wraps with a thoughtful post-film discussion led by Jeannie Berg, Film and Media Production faculty at Glendale Community College.
🎞️ Film Lineup:
June 14 – The Bells of St. Mary’s (1945)
Bing Crosby returns as Father O’Malley in this heartfelt sequel to Going My Way, partially filmed at St. Mary’s Church in Phoenix. He teams up with a spirited nun to save a struggling school.
July 12 – Oklahoma! (1955)
Though set in the Midwest, this musical classic was shot in Arizona’s scenic countryside. Expect romance, rivalry, and unforgettable songs.
August 9 – McClintock (1963)
John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara shine in this western-comedy filmed at Old Tucson Studios, full of slapstick humor and spirited family dynamics.
September 13 – Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore (1974)
Filmed in Tucson and directed by Martin Scorsese, this drama follows a widow’s journey to rebuild her life. Ellen Burstyn won an Oscar for her powerful performance.
October 11 – Can’t Buy Me Love (1987)
This '80s rom-com cult favorite, filmed in Tucson, follows a high school deal gone hilariously sideways.
