🌟 Join us on Sunday 6th July, for a Memorial & Community Day in Melville’s honour! 🌟
The day will be filled with tributes, stalls, entertainment, music, dog shows and activities—a true reflection of the community spirit that Melville championed.
Having also received a local government grant, we want to hear what you'd like to have here at the Rec. So there will be plenty of opportunity for everyone to share their ideas on how we can continue to work and shape the future of the Rec.
🌿 Honouring a Local Hero – Melville Durrant 🌿
Penzance lost one of its unsung heroes last August with the sudden passing of Melville Durrant. While his family and friends were heartbroken, so too was the wider community, who knew him for his tireless dedication, along with the volunteers, to preserving and improving Princess May Recreation Ground.
Melville saved the Rec from closure, fought for new play equipment and a skate park, brought in fairs, community planting, trails, and events, and worked endlessly to make it the thriving green space we all love today. His impact is everywhere, and now it’s time for us to come together to honour his memory and celebrate his legacy.
📅 Save the date and click ‘Going’ on the event page to stay updated as local businesses and community projects confirm their involvement. Let’s make this a day to remember—for Melville, for the Rec, and for the future of our community. 💚
