Dr. Fred Mixon will be taking the stage with Nate Smith & the fabulous True Blue Band, featuring his son Joel blazing the keys, and the one-and-only Mike Saddekni, saxophone legend from Birmingham.

We’re serving up a sizzling mix of blues, jazz, pop, and R&B, along with stories and unexpected twists.

BIO

Fred “Doc” Mixon experienced rheumatic fever at 7 years of age; he was bedridden and schooled at home off and on for nearly two years. During that time, he listened to the radio day and night. A love for music was birthed in his heart! He taught himself how to play the ukulele, and his Daddy showcased his son’s ability to entertain in the small town of Amite, Louisiana.

As an All State Quarterback, he was recruited for the college game, and chose LSU in 1964. His dream of being a physician was challenged academically with the rigors of being a college athlete. Moving forward to accomplish his dream, he left the gridiron behind and went to LSU Medical School, completed a Residency in Family Medicine in the US Navy, and settled in Pensacola.

After separating from the Navy, his medical career in Pensacola began with the Sacred Heart Emergency Room followed by opening the first urgent care clinic, EmergiCenter, in the area. His practice has included developing and leading the Sacred Heart Medical Group and the Sacred Heart Urgent Care Centers.

Doc, as he’s known by his family, has always been inspired and encouraged by their passion for the performing arts and music. NOW . . . It’s “DOC’S TURN.” As Doc says, “It’s gonna be a ball.”
