Workshop No. 1 / Monotype and Woodcuts with Wendy Prellwitz

This 2-day workshop is suitable for artists with any degree of experience with printmaking.

Wendy Prellwitz has exhibited on Long Island and in New England and beyond for 30 years. This year, she’s showing at Alpers Fine Art in Rockport, MA, Art Associations in Cambridge and Concord , MA, and at the Lenz Winery. In recent years, she was included in exhibits at the Alex Ferrone Gallery in Cutchogue, NY, The Long Island Museum’s exhibit, “Ebb & Flow”, The Nassau County Museum of Art, “Singular & Serial” at Cove St Arts in Portland, ME, and “Detour 4” in Riverhead, NY.

June 14 and 15, 10am - 4pm

Overview:

- Introduction to monotype and Akua Inks; additive, subtractive, and viscosity methods

- Use of rollers and mark-making tools & incorporation of woodcuts

- Printing demonstration, including use of ghost and multiple plates

- Experiment with Akua inks, and print test plates to become familiar with possibilities

- Using your imagery or ideas that arise, explore making monotypes with different approaches & tools.

Bring:

A sketchbook with imagery you want to pursue, and for sketching ideas inspired by the process and beautiful printshop location.

All materials and catered lunch are included.
