Butler's Pasadena Walking Tour

A lifelong Pasadena resident, Octavia E. Butler’s imprint on Los Angeles is undeniable. In light of the devastating LA fires earlier this year, neo fascism around the world, ongoing genocides, and increasing climate catastrophes, there is palpable urgency to learn from each other and in dialogue with Butler’s life and work.

This walking tour is part of Level Ground's Social Practice Labs and is curated and lead in partnership with The Center for Restorative Justice.

We'll meet where Butler went to middle school (now called Octavia E Butler Magnet). There will be 3 stops total on our tour. Each stop includes: a brief history of the location as it relates to Butler's life and work, an invitation to ritual, and a local story.

Your registration includes a catered sandwich from Perry's Joint (we'll reach out to get your sepcific order after you register). We'll end the tour at Good Neighbor Bar where you can stay for a drink to finish the night and head home whenever your want. The tour includes 50 minutes of slow walking and plenty of breaks.
