- **Event Name**: Minister of Finance unwraps her second Budget – It’s not a lolly scramble!
- **Event Start and End Date**: Wed, 11 Jun, 2025 at 07:15 am – Wed, 11 Jun, 2025 at 08:45 am
- **Event Description**: Business Breakfast – B2B networking – Sponsored by Electra – Supported by Business Kāpiti - Nau mai haere mai Electra Business Breakfast is pleased to welcome the Minister of Finance, Hon Nicola Willis who will deliver the 2025 Budget to New Zealanders on Thursday 22nd May. We know the facts – Government is halving its operating allowance from $2.4 billion to $1.3b, BOOM!

The Minister has been quoted as saying, “new spending initiatives are strictly limited to the most important priorities. Our focus has been on health, education, law and order, defence, and a small number of critical social investments. We have also found room for modest measures to support business growth and to provide some carefully targeted cost-of-living relief ... We’re determined our Budget will play a role in giving you confidence for the future.”

The Growth Budget aims to do what it says on the tin: focus on economic growth. The Government's growth agenda, published earlier this year, lays out 87 specific actions under five key themes:

1. Developing talent
2. Competitive business settings
3. Innovation, technology, and science
4. Overseas investment and trade
5. Infrastructure for growth

There’s a lot to unpack in uneasy times, and global uncertainty post President Trump’s ‘Liberation Day’. How optimistic are you about the future of business in Aotearoa? Start thinking about your questions now for Minister Willis as she will take questions at the end of her address. This Breakfast will be held in the Southward Theatre as it will draw a big crowd.

See you there! Book early to avoid disappointment!
