Shortest Night Trail Run 2025

Dear Racers,

JUNE 20th FRIDAY NIGHT is only a few weeks away!

This race is an organic movement that is growing each year as you all come back and bring your friends. We look forward to hosting it again this year and we continue to expect it to grow in both enjoyment and size.

This year our theme is "Small Beginnings"

If you have been thinking of running or training but are discouraged or too busy, you just need to get started! Maybe commit to doing only a small amount every day for a week! You'll be amazed at the results!

A couple of details to take note of for this year:

1. I am implementing some additional barriors/ trail signs to avoid any runners taking incorrect turns.

2. Each team needs to bring a baton of their choice to pass between runners during the transitions.

3. No rules at all this year. We are only having 3 person catagories and this eliminated the need for the 2 rules we had. These changes should eliminate the few things that have caused some stress in the past races. Just come, run, and enjoy your time with friends.

The baton will be the single change that will assure that each team is properly doing the transition.

Registration from 5pm-8 pm (hanging out, setting up camp)Please be prepared to come to the registration table by 7pm with your final team member, names, emails, and your Team Division and Team Name. There will be teams that need to re-arranged or new teams formed at the last minute so it's necessary that we have all the info before 8 pm. (We encourage individuals to come to the race and we will try to pair you with others to form a team.) Please have your captain only sign up on Eventbrite. He or she can choose which category and get one ticket for the whole team.

Final announcements at 8 pm

Race Time is 8:36pm/End time is 12 midnight.

Objective of the race is to run as many loops as possible in the 3 hours and 24 minutes.

At the registration table on race night you will be divided into PRO and Amateur divisions. Do not worry about this distinction when you are registering your team on Eventbrite.

We are accepting 5 team categories on Eventbrite.:

3 person male

3 person Co-ed

3 person female

Solo

All night (dusk to dawn)

NOTE: All the Co-ed teams will be together and in the amateur loops, but 2 flights.

We welcome teams with young people or kids. We have an Amateur Division . The Amateur teams average 9 -12 minute mile pace on the trails. (remember that trails are slower than roads)This should give you a gauge when determining your status. There will be a larger entry fee and purse in the PRO division so we encourage you to compete in the highest level you can. There is no need to decide now which division you plan to race in. We will get this information from you on Race Night.

NOTE: Some of the best moments from last year was watching the young runners. Encourage families and school friends to form teams. Have youth group teams, or grandparent/grandchild teams.

We reserve the right to combine categories as needed. Don't be intimidated by the lack of information on this site. We will have plenty of helpers and signage at race time for you.

Registration deadline is June 19th (please don't wait that long, the sooner the better for me. )Use Eventbrite to reserve your free ticket.

Please have your captain only sign up.

He or she can choose which category and get one ticket for the whole team. This will greatly help me know how many teams are participating.

Registration fee is $20 per person in the Amateur race $30 per person in the Pro Race... payable in cash on race day. All entry fees will be distributed back to the respective categories in cash prizes.

The course is 2 miles long and divided into 2 loops of 1 mile each. (the pro teams run one loop that is 1.5 miles and one loop that is 1 mile)

THIS IS A NIGHT RUN, Bring good headlamps! I can assure you a good light will increase your pace. There will be an "glow ring" to collect from a bucket on each loop to bring to camp. This is how everyone at camp will know how many loops your team has completed.

Don't forget to bring a team baton.

Campfire food and drinks will be provided. Please feel free to contribute food to this table. If you have a special "race food" feel free to bring enough for others. There will be a second food table that is for racers only. The meadow will be open for camping for your team and/or your supporters. (feel free to stay the night)Word of mouth is the only method of advertising. We need your help! This event is open to reserve your team space. And you can direct friends and family to the site to spread awareness.
