Technopolis 20 welcomes “Da Trio” in its beautiful garden on Tuesday 19th of August, 8pm. Da Trio's basis is the tradition filled with influences from today. Their repertoire is inspired from the legendary piano trios of jazz history like Ahmad Jamal, Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, mixed with arrangements of jazz standards and original compositions.
Da Trio is formed by Christos Yerolatsitis on piano from Cyprus, Xavi Castillo on bass from Catalonia, and Karles Pérez on drums from the south of Spain. Their love and dedication for the jazz tradition is what glues the three together.

A few words about the musicians:
Xavi Castillo was born in Terrassa (Barcelona, Spain) a city known for its long jazz tradition. He always combined his studies of jazz and classical music, making him a versatile player.
He got his Bachelor’s degree at ESMUC (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya) specialized in jazz interpretation. During his degree, he had the chance to spend a semester at the Koninklijk
Conservatorium (The Hague, Netherlands). To complete his studies he studied a master degree at Fundació Conservatori Liceu, where he was awarded with the Ferrer-Salat full scholarship and a master degree in Pedagogy For Musicians at ESMUC.
He has taken private lessons and master class with David Wong, Dezron Douglas, Doug Weis, Larry Grenadier, Putter Smith, Steve Cardenas, Mark Turner, Joey Baron, Michael Kanan, Bill McHenry, Alexis Cuadrado, Bart De Nolf, Martin Schaal, Clemens Van De Fer, David Schumacher, Johane Gonzalez, Michal Stadnicki, Christoph Rhan.
He got awarded with a scholarship in the City Collage of New York, however with the covid hit he didn’t move to New York. After some time and seeking challenges, he moved to Copenhagen (Denmark) where he was looking for a new horizon to expand his knowledge and his music. He has moved back to Barcelona after two years of playing in Denmark.
He has played with Michael Kanan, Dani Perez, Jo Krause, Jakob Dinesen, Jakob Artved, Thomas Klausen, Jasper Blom, Ben Solomon and Josep Maria Farràs among many others.
He has played in many Jazz Festivals such as Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Winter Jazz Festival Copenhagen, Aarhus Jazz Festival, Festival Jazz de Terrassa, Festival Jazz Candás, Hush Macau
Festival, Jazz Tardor Lleida, Festival de Jazz de Banyoles, Festival de Jazz de l’Estartit, Estival Jazz d’Igualada, Festival de Jazz de Rubí. He also has played in differents countries in Europe such as Spain, Cyprus, Denmark, Italy, France, Switzerland, Netherlands and Belgium and in south China.
He is based in Barcelona, working with various local and international artists. His current projects include two jazz trios, TRO and Xavi Castillo trio that he co-leads and leads, respectively, and the jazz 5et Gran Reserva that he co-leads. He is also involved in numerous collaborations as a sideman that are mainly focused, but not limited, to jazz. In the classical world he is a bass player in the Orquestra Simfònica de Sant Cugat and collaborator of Orquestra Simfònica Victoria de los Angeles and Camerata XII.
Christos Yerolatsitis
The Cypriot pianist and keyboardist Christos Yerolatsitis is a forward-thinking musician whose eclectic tastes have led him to explore the forever-changing musical landscape where different music genres blend into one another. Christos was trained in the post-bop tradition for which he has a deep appreciation, and which remains part of his musical persona. His proficiency and personal style in the genre haven’t gone unnoticed by both his peers and listeners alike and have led him to work and record with numerous musicians and projects around the world. Christos was formally trained in The Netherlands where he received a BA degree in Jazz Performance from The Royal Conservatory of The Hague (2013) and an MA degree from Conservatorium van Amsterdam (2015).
During his time there, he had the honor to share the stage with musicians such as Benjamin Herman, John Ruocco, Simon Rigter, Ben van den Dungen, and Ben Van Gelder among others.
In 2016, Christos worked with the Eef van Breen Group in cooperation with Het Noord Nederlands Toneel as part of the extremely successful 9-hour theatre production “Borgen” which appeared in all the biggest theaters of the country.
In 2017, he became the head of the piano department at the True School of Music, one of the biggest music schools in India. During his time in there, Christos performed with various bands in music festivals and jazz clubs and had the opportunity to share the stage with musicians like Ranjit Barot (known for his work with John Maclaughlin) and Erik Truffaz. Currently, Christos is based in Cyprus, where he is working with various local and international bands. Apart from that, he is a professor in Latvia at Riga’s Conservatory “Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music”.
Karles Perez was born in Petrer where he began his musical studies in the “Colla de dolçainers i tabaleters “El Terros” and was soon admired to the conservatory “Ana María Sánchez” of Elda where he studied classical percussion. AHer graduaIng in middle grade in that conservatory, in 2015, he was admitted to the Centro Superior del País Vasco in the specialty of jazz drums, finishing his studies in 2019. Throughout these four years he spent a brief period at the Kug Conservatory in Graz (Austria). In addiIon, he has been part of musical projects led by prominent jazz musicians such as lija Reijngoud or Judy Nlemack. In addiIon to all this, he has been part of several groups parIcipaIng in the San SebasIan Jazz FesIval. Finally, it is worth menIoning that he has been the winner of the “Horda” project, of the “BBK Impulso” awards for the best young band in the Basque Country.
