About the event

Let's Go Native: Exploring Native Plants! (All ages)
Native plants are beautiful, low-maintenance, and built for our climate! The Native Wildflower Garden at Bay County Public Library was funded through a grant from the Florida Wildflower Foundation. Attend our program to learn more about native plants in our area, gardening tips from our local sponsors, and leave with free seeds and plants! This event is for all ages and is free and open to the public.

Educational Talks
Location: Bay County Public Library Meeting Room
9:30 - 10:15 a.m. - “Best Natives for Local Yards” - presented by Jody Wood-Putnam of the Sweetbay Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society
10:30 - 11:15 a.m. - “Tips on How to Design and Care for a Native Landscape” - presented by Noah Chambers of Sandhills Native Nursery

Event Tables
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Location: Outdoor tables in front of Bay County Public Library
• Sweetbay Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society will share gardening information, answer questions, share the FL Wildflower Garden at BCPL, and giveaway plants and seeds!
• Sandhills Native Nursery will share gardening information, answer questions and present a demo!
• UF/IFAS Bay County Extension Service - Master Gardener Volunteers will share gardening information, answer questions, offer coloring sheets, and give away non-native edible garden plants!
o Kids & teens can create paper pots and plant a seedling to take home!
o Water and snacks provided!

Art Exhibit
Location: Youth Services Hallway/Gallery at Bay County Public Library
Visit the Youth Services Gallery to view photos and paintings of native plants by artist and photographer Jody Wood-Putnam.
