Our Fall Local Honey Tasting is on Saturday, September 13th to try the next freshly harvested batch! Our local honey is harvested twice a year, once in the early summer (the beginning of July) and once in the late summer (at the beginning of September). The early summer harvest is lighter than the one in September, but the late summer honey is usually a big favorite since it has such a rich flavor.
We'll have our spring honey from earlier this year to compare to the late summer harvest. It's so fun to taste the difference between the harvests- each harvest each year tastes a little different depending on what flowers were blooming. The late summer harvest from last year was really amazing, so I can't wait to try the newest harvest!
Jen from Flowers on Cottonwood was at our last Honey Tasting with her gorgeous bouquets and she will be at this year's Fall Honey Tasting as well. She sold out at our last Honey Tasting, so if you're interested in seeing her bouquets, I'd stop by in the first couple hours of the tasting.
Flowers on Cottonwood is an independent local flower farm in Lockport that is pesticide, insecticide and herbicide free with a focus on supporting native pollinators (most flowers at grocery stores are literally doused in chemicals, so we're thrilled to support an environmentally friendly local florist)!
Be sure to stop by for this free tasting! Our honey tastings are one of our favorite events that are fun for all ages (I actually think it's a great one for kids)! We'll also be sampling a new ice cream called Ice Cream for Bears at the tasting that's sweetened with raw honey (and it has very clean, simple ingredients).
It's always a fun day!
