We invite you to attend our ENM Hui. This is a great chance to get together with all the ENM member groups. Enjoy a light meal, network and make connections with like minded people. We also think you’ll enjoy our keynote speaker, Dr Catherine Knight.
Thursday 31st July | 5 – 8pm | Community Leasure Centre
Dr Catherine Knight will be speaking about the history of shared land and resources (commons), how they were taken, and the potential for a re-commoned, sustainable economy in Aotearoa.
About the speaker: Dr Catherine Knight is an award winning environmental historian and author of several acclaimed books including New Zealand's Rivers: An environmental history, Beyond Manapouri: 50 years of environmental politics in New Zealand and Ravaged Beauty: An environmental history of the Manawatu. Catherine works in public policy and is an Honorary Research Associate at Massey University.
Her newest work, An Uncommon Land, weaves together ancestral family stories and wider social and environmental history to trace the process of enclosure and the rise of private property, and offers a compelling vision for a regenerative, re commoned future.
As you know, we are working on the constitution. There will be a chance at the end to look at it if that’s what you want to do. This isn’t the main part of the meeting and you wont have to be a part of it if you’re just there for Catherine and networking.
We aim to make this a space to celebrate, connect and inspire each other.
