Matthew Henderson, will be our keynote speakers at the 12th of August, Australian Plants Society (APS) - Cardinia Region Inc. Meeting.
August's topic will feature an overview of Plant Nomenclature (aka Plant Names) where Matt will talk about:
* What is Plant Nomenclature?
* Why it Matters
* A Historical Overview
* Providing Examples
Matt is the Senior Curator of Horticulture, at the Cranbourne Gardens, where he is responsible for overseeing the living collections and displays. Matt has been with the Botanic Gardens for eight years and has a strong interest in South-Eastern Australian flora - particularly Victorian plants - their cultivation, and promoting their use in gardens.
Note that there is no requirement to book ahead for this session. Feel free to just turn up on the evening.
Doors of the main Function Room, for the presentation, will open from 7:10pm, with an expected start time of 7:30pm.
After the presentation member's native plant cuttings will be shown and discussion, and the raffle drawn for plant prizes. Tickets are 3 for $2.
Second hand native fauna and flora books will be available for purchase. Cash only.
To round out the evening supper will be served.
