Blackbirds Open Rehearsal - Semester 2 2025

QUT Blackbirds Big Band is a non-auditioned jazz ensemble made up of like-minded individuals coming together to pursue our passion for music. Our repertoire features a mix of vocal and instrumental charts, ranging from jazz standards to funky genre fusions and big band adaptations of classic songs.

Open Rehearsal is a chance for anyone and everyone to give the band a go and see if it’s right for them! This semester, it will be held on Sunday the 27th of July from 5:15–7:30pm (our usual weekly rehearsal time). Although we usually rehearse in Z9-540 at QUT Kelvin Grove, this Open Rehearsal will be held at Paddington Hall (10 Moreton St, Paddington) due to the QUT rooms being in use for the university's Open Day. Please bring a water bottle and your instrument (unless it's drums or keyboard/piano - these will be provided).
