Jessica Cohn is finding her way in the post-truth world, marking a path with rocks, ribbons, and observations in verse. The entries in her debut poetry collection Gratitude Diary follow an arc from grief and regret to illumination, from broken islands to the medicine creek. Gratitude Diary was named winner for poetry by this year's Great Northwest Book Festival. A Michigan native and longtime nonfiction writer, Cohn has made homes in Illinois, New York, and now Aptos, California, where she started her poetry practice. She facilitates a spoken-word appreciation group that meets monthly at the Capitola library. She revels in the way poems say what cannot otherwise be said.
