Museum Of Oxford
St Aldate's, Oxford, United Kingdom
Party like it’s 1975!
MOX's 50th anniversary year is all about celebrating Oxford’s heritage and stories – and the museum that’s been sharing them for half a century. Join us for this free museum late for a chance to play, create and celebrate at the museum after hours! Free entry, drop-in activities and a paid bar will be available to enjoy throughout the evening.
In the museum galleries, join a flash talk with one of our volunteer guides to learn how Oxford has always taken its fun very seriously - from ales to summer traditions to music, festivals, and merry-go-rounds. Flaunt the fashions of our founding year at our dress up station and photo booth in Gallery 2.
Have a go at collage poetry inspired by the city and the museum’s displays with the help of local poets Tulsi Talbot and Grace Copeland. A chance to get creative and make your own collage poem to take home! Open to all and no experience required.
Through conversations and written prompts, Tulsi and Grace will also collect your thoughts which will inspire an interactive, collective poem to be created and then performed on the night at 8.10pm. After the event, the poem will become one of the stories collected as part of “Our Oxford: 50 Years, 50 Stories”, our 50th anniversary exhibition – making it a part of MOX’s legacy in this special year.
A paid bar, badge-making station, chill-out zone and zine library will also be available throughout the evening. The shop will be open too, selling our special MOX 50 themed goodies and your usual favourite items!
Designed with the help of an amazing group of MOX volunteers, this museum late will be an opportunity to immerse yourself in our city’s heritage, celebrate the history of your museum and explore playful, creative responses to it!
This is a free drop-in event. There's no need to book, but you can book a free ticket to secure priority admission if you would like to.
