We invite you to join us at DROx for our first day of racing as a club! This event is going to be like no other focussing on the fun of racing and cheering on our fellow pilots.
Close to the longest day of the year, the theme is “Summer Solstice” and we will be flying as much as we can, starting early and finishing late as the sun goes down. But don’t worry there’s no commitment to be here for the whole day just turn up and join in when you can. We will be running some side quests during the day so it’s not just about being the fastest overall that counts.

Layered Team and Solo racing
Format of the event:
Teams allocated in the morning, this will be through chalk draft in an attempt to balance the speed of the teams. Your team will be together for the day. You will be in the pits together and also spot for one another.
Morning Qualifying - Flying Starting at 10am
Approx 6 rounds of 2 mins fastest 3 consecutive laps. Your fastest time will not only go on your board but your team times will be an average of each of the pilot's fastest times. At the end of qualifying this will earn points for your team.
Afternoon Racing - Bumps format - Approx 10 races starting at 2pm
Your quali time will put you into a final bracket. This race will be first to complete "n" laps. Points awarded to individuals and your team based on finishing positions. Then if your win your final your will "bump" up one bracket. If you lose your final your will "bump" down one bracket!
This will add some jeopardy and also mean that all is still to play for, at every level for gaining points for your team! Consistency might be rewarded more that outright pace so strategy will help.
As a club we want to encourage camaraderie, supporting your fellow pilots no matter what level. With this format, the best way to help your team is to fly well at your speed and also help your team mates perform better at their level. Its an experiment but overall if it works or doesn't it will be fun flying :)
