Oxford's friendliest cycling club brings you their forth summer Audax, crossing the Chilterns and North Wessex Downs with plenty of flat roads in between and ample daylight hours to enjoy.
Cowley Road Condors enjoy many different types of cycling, from social rides with coffee and cake through to racing and time trials. We are keen to share our joy of riding long distance with new and existing riders, and are particularly enthusiastic about welcoming under represented groups, or those who wonder 'is this for me?'.
With this in mind, we have designed our event starting from Oxford, to give people a friendly introduction to the world of Audax. Route design, controls, venue and time of year have all been given lots of thought to create a positive rider experience which we hope will encourage participation in other Audax events and long distance adventuring.
The start and finish will be at Tap Social Tap Room in Botley (OX2 0LX). This is an easily accessible, no frills start.
Tap Social Tap Room sits on a business estate with enforced parking restrictions, therefore encourage to cycle to the start wherever possible. If you come by car, the Seacourt park and ride is approx. 500m from the start and is open 24 hours a day (parking fees apply). Oxford train station is approx. 2km away and we hope that the event start time will assist with train travel. If parking is a barrier to entry, please get in touch.
Controls will be at Ewelme, Bramley, Sutton Scotney and Shrivenham; GPX and Route Sheets will be provided in advance.
Any surplus from the Audax entry will go to support CyclAbility Oxford who provide inclusive, adult cycling facilities in a safe and supportive environment.
